Nampülwangulenfe / Mapunauta

Through this collaboration, we developed a sonic poem that emerges from the research of Mapuche Cosmovision and its relationship to outer space, the dimension of the Wenumapu. As a result of this research, we are building the idea/concept/movement/imaginary of the Mapunauta(Miyawpukelu Wenu mapu mew / Nampülwangülenfe) and of a Mapufuturism. This piece materializes on the understanding of the richness of the Mapuche Cosmology and how ancestral knowledge can help us to think about a more just space future. What does it mean to think about space exploration and the new horizons of humanity from an ancestral, anti-imperialist and decolonial perspective? What possibilities could come to light when using poetry and sound as an exploration vessel for parallel realities? What are the social implications, as well as political, poetic, aesthetic, of knowledge, of identity, of resistance that can emerge when thinking about a Mapufuturism?

This piece has the objective of opening new and diversified imaginary projections. Also, the objective of proposing futures that can resignify the way in which we relate to our presents.

This piece is the first sketch of the history of the Mapunauta and opens a long- term collaboration for the construction of the story of the Spatial Mapuche and their intergalactic adventures. This will be done through sonic poems, sculptures, performances, installations, drawings, instruments and compositions among other forms.

This research is based on texts, studies, stories, and chants. The sounds used are gathered from different sources: Star sounds and exoplanets are courtesy of Jon M. Jenkins and NASA’s Kepler Mission, NASA Ames Research Center. We also used the sound library from Sonidos de ALMA, from ALMA Observatory in the Atacama Desert, Chile. Also, sounds collected during the celebration of the Wiñol Tripantü by Daniela Catrileo, and other sounds recorded during different situations of sonic explorations and research.

Originally created as a sound installation for the Festival PM in Santiago, Chile.

En esta colaboración, desarrollamos un poema sonoro que nace a partir de la investigación sobre la Cosmovisión Mapuche y su relación con el espacio exterior, la dimensión del Wenumapu. A partir de esta investigación estamos construyendo la idea/concepto/movimiento/imaginario del Mapunauta (Miyawpukelu Wenu mapu mew / Nampülwangülenfe) y de un Mapufuturismo. Esta obra radica en el entendimiento de la riqueza de la Cosmovisión Mapuche, y como desde el conocimiento ancestral es posible pensar en un futuro espacial más justo y en estrecha relación con la naturaleza. ¿Qué significa pensar en la exploración espacial y nuevos horizontes de la humanidad desde una perspectiva ancestral, anti-imperialista y decolonial? ¿Qué posibilidades pueden aparecer al usar el poema y el sonido como nave de exploración de realidades paralelas? ¿Qué implicancias sociales, políticas, poéticas, estéticas, de conocimiento, de identidad y de resistencia emergen al pensar en un Mapufuturismo?

Esta obra tiene el objetivo de abrir proyecciones imaginarias diversificadas, además de proponer posibles futuros que pueden resignificar la manera en la cual nos relacionamos con nuestros presentes.
Esta obra es el primer esbozo de la historia del Mapunauta y abre una colaboración a largo plazo para la construcción y el desarrollo del relato del Mapuche Espacial y sus aventuras intergalácticas por medio de poemas sonoros, esculturas, instalaciones, dibujos, instrumentos y composiciones, entre otras formas.

Esta investigación está basada en textos, estudios, relatos y cantos. Todos los sonidos de estrellas son por cortesía de Jon M. Jenkins y NASA Kepler Mission, NASA Ames Research Center, también se usa la librería creada por Sonidos de ALMA, del Obervatorio ALMA en el Desierto de Atacama, Chile, además de sonidos recaudados durante la celebración del Wiñol Tripantü y otros sonidos grabados durante distintas instancias de exploración e investigación.
