Telemetron

Zero gravity performance for human and non-human bodies. Where things come to life and matter is more vibrant than ever. First electronic music instrument for experimental composition in outer space or antigravitational atmospheres. The Telemetron is a collaboration with Sands Fish. Thanks to the support of the MIT Media Lab Space Exploration Initiative Assistance: Thomas Sanchez Lengeling and Sarah Hua.

The environment of microgravity affords a unique medium for new modalities of future creation and space narratives. Today space research and exploration is limited and managed by few (governments, elites, corporations, etc). It is fundamental to start creating a more just and diverse platform to develop and explore the ideas that could change and affect the course of everybody (and everything) else on this planet (and others). The democratization and liberation of space research are needed urgently! In this context, the Telemetron is a musical instrument that has the objective to start thinking about the culture in -and- around outer space. Using music as an element of social interaction and communication, we infiltrate the world of space exploration with the task of creating channels that are simple yet dynamic so more people can feel they have a saying and can influence what happens and what shouldn’t happen outside of our Earth. We strongly believe that interplanetary justice starts from the base of a strong planetary justice on Earth. And as well as on Earth, all neoliberal “desarrollista” vision, and colonial & extractive projects on other celestial bodies must be destabilized.
